This is a workbench that I recently finished. It is made of Hard Maple. It's 24" x 61" x 35 1/2". The top is 3" thick with 5 1/2" aprons. The end vise is a Twin-screw Veritas vise and the front vise is a German quick release vise. The trestles have draw bored mortise and tenon joints. The cross pieces use through bolts with barrel nuts. It weighs about 150 pounds or so. It's great carving on a surface that dosn't move at all. I designed it as a pretty much traditional bench but maybe a bit more stout. It has more bench dog holes than a lot of benches. I did this for more versatility when carving. I'm using bench dogs, bench hooks, shop made bench dogs, bench holdfasts from Gramercy, and the vises to hold the work. I also made a slide up stop at the of the bench to use as a planing stop. I've worked on and off for a long time on this and am very happy to get it finally done.
