This one was exciting to turn, I was really expecting to get a finger whacked but came out unscathed.

Green Sycamore crotch.
Now just have to dry it and put on a finish.

It’s been a while since I’ve done any work on the lathe.

Back in the fall I developed a rotator cuff issue that was responding quite well to physical therapy then a couple of days before Christmas I had a fairly serious cardiac issue that saw me spend some time in the emergency room and an overnight stay in the cardiac ward.

In February I underwent a cardiac ablation procedure which has completely fixed my issue, however during that procedure they wound up yanking my shoulder around which wiped out all the progress made with the therapy and I had to start over again.

So long story short my heart is in great shape, blood pressure is down and stable, and my shoulder is doing much better, as long as I keep doing my exercises, I shouldn’t have any further issues with it.

A month ago I got a bunch of old Sycamore from a tree that came down in the neighborhood, some of it is p***y and bug ridden with fungus spalting through out…Just the kinda stuff I love…
Over the past couple of days I turned the outside and in the next couple will finish the inside.

Here’s a couple of preliminary photos of how it started and how it’s going.

Box Elder hollow form, roughed out from a rotten branch. Lots of sanding to do but I quite like this.
