Celebration of Life service for Tim will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Bliley's Funeral Home, Central, 3801 Augusta Ave.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce that one of the founders of Southern Hardwood, Tim Cates, has passed away. Tim struggled with PLS for the past two years and last night his illness ran it's course. As we all know Tim was one of a kind. His smile and contagious cheer lit up every room that he entered. He considered all of his customers and employees to be his friends and made us all feel like family. Southern Hardwood would not be the company it is today without his passion for life and helping people to be their very best. Tim truly was "the floorman's best friend" and will be dearly missed by us all. Even after his diagnosis, Tim still made the most out of life and would race down the aisles of the warehouse in his wheelchair and make us all laugh. I believe his twin sister, Sue Jones, said it best, "Courage has many faces and Tim Cates wore them all. May all of us have his gift of positivity and spirituality in the face of darkness. Leaving this world on All Saints Day couldn't have been a better day for Tim to say goodbye..." Our hearts go out to his friends and family during this difficult time. We can all find comfort in knowing he is now at peace and is up there talking someone's ear off in heaven with the biggest grin on his face. Rest in peace, our beloved Tim Cates.
