I wanted my cabinets to feel like old pieces of furniture 🪑

I went back and forth on the cabinetry color for so long - I wanted the white oak look for something different than what was there before but in design I’ve learned to listen to my gut and generally regret it when I don’t.

My condo was built in the 90’s and has lots of darker wood tones and heck no I’m not painting all of the wood white

With two chaotic toddlers, my home will never feel pristine and honestly I don’t want it to.

I wanted my cabinets to feel like the antique pieces that have been passed down in my family while adding lots of texture and natural materials with the overall feel of the kitchen to be warm, lived-in, and a little funky

I went with real terracotta tiles, 1/2 grout lines, and marble countertops so talk to me a year from now about those life choices go 😅

In the meantime, loving how everything is coming together and pulling together the finishing touches: backsplash, stucco hood, and paint 🙌

After months of designing and planning with , , and Salty Dog Builders, we can’t wait to see this show-stopper kitchen and butlers pantry come to life ✨

As part of the Tideland Haven home plan, this kitchen is incredibly unique being completely supported/surrounded by wood beams. Working with a team was crucial to get all of the details just right for both aesthetics and structure.

Standby, this beauty will be one of a kind!

Full renovation in progress 🙌🙌

This multi-generational family home is staying in the family but with a whole new look 🖼️

It’s been fascinating seeing it down to the studs and the hearing the stories behind the different additions and work done to it throughout the years

Excited for this beauty’s next chapter 📖

Keeping the character, showing off some of the original architecture, and incorporating modern elements to make it feel and function better for this generation of family moving in 🚛

Proof that a 90’s/2000’s home can be modernized 🙌

Your new home doesn’t have to feel the same way it looked with the previous owners 🏡

Full kitchen and bathroom reno is in the works with this project but we wanted to share the power of paint, arches, and lighting updates!

We have loved Design Advising with these clients who have a lot of experience in renovations and construction but needed a bit of help with overall design direction.

This is a young family with little ones so the plan needed to be practical while still transforming the home. Once we got clear on the end vision, we put together a design plan and they ran with it!

The columns in the entry were making the home feel very 90’s 😎 Instead of taking the columns out and having to deal with possible structural issues, they framed in arches and replicated the arches in a few places in the home so everything felt cohesive.

We definitely cannot take the credit on this project because the clients really took the reins to make it happen but that’s why we love Design Advising to see what a little teamwork can accomplish 💪🏼

✨Our spring schedule is almost full, we will be taking on 1-2 more Design Advising clients until the summer. Reach out if you want to chat about your project✨

Full service design is for people who don’t want their renovation or new-build to turn into a second job 🙌

There are so many decisions in a renovation or furnishing project — layout, materials, lead times, trades, installs. Many clients can’t manage all of that on top of their normal lives 🤪

We handle the planning, sourcing, ordering, and ex*****on so the process stays organized and cohesive from start to finish with your contractor.

You’re involved in where it matters (mostly the fun parts)
We take care of the rest 💯

We started working together shortly after they moved into their new home. It’s such a charming tutor that had been loved by another family for a long time 🏡

Our clients were excited to make the space feel like their own without major renovations - which was easy because the space has great bones. They were happy with their current dining set and console, so we focused on impactful ways to change the feeling of the space without major cost.

They envisioned fun dinner nights with their friends and little ones so we wanted it to have a moody vibe but still be family-friendly 🥂

🎨 We started by nailing down the paint color, putting together moodboards and inspiration photos to make a big visual impact with the paint while still working with most of the existing colors in the home (blue walls in the bar area adjacent to the dining room, etc.)
💡Although the existing chandelier was pretty, it was the style of the previous owners and felt a little small for the space. We went big and bronzy with the vintage inspired fixture and loveee it!
🪴We never go overboard with the decor, we are still adding a few more select pieces but we do it in layers. We start with anything the family already has that they love and is sentimental, like the gorgeous oil painting. Then we work down to framed family photos. Lastly we layer in greenery and texture in a minimal but big way.

✨Excited to add the last finishing touches to this dining room - but love to see the progress we’ve made in completely changing the feeling of the space✨

Lighting makes an incredible impact—so let’s talk about how to do it right 💡

A few design strategies we come back to again and again:

• Double up ✌️
Two chandeliers over a dining table—crazy or genius? Parallel lanterns in a hallway, sconces flanking a window… doubling up can feel incredibly intentional and balanced when done well.

• Highlight artwork 🖼️
Use picture lights, directional sconces, or discreet spotlights to let art actually shine instead of fading into the background.

• Go big 💯
Underscaled lighting is one of the biggest missed opportunities. A bold fixture anchors a room and instantly elevates it.

• Get fancy 💅
This is your moment for something sculptural, unexpected, or just a little dramatic. Lighting is functional—but it’s also jewelry for the room.

• Mix metals ⚜️
Brass, bronze, nickel—together. Matching everything can fall flat; mixing adds depth and warmth.

• Go vertical 👆
Think tall floor lamps, elongated sconces, or fixtures that draw the eye up. Vertical lighting makes spaces feel larger and more architectural.

👉 Saving this for later? Even better—DM us if you want help dialing in lighting that transforms your space.
