As we step into the second week of September, we’re preparing for an exciting week of workshops ahead at Oblivion Cinema & Arts!

On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, we will host the inaugural session of our newest community-classroom collaboration, Stained Glass 101 with Pat Hustmyer! This session has already sold out—be sure to stay on the lookout for bonus sessions this month and beyond in our studio!

Gather with us on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 for our free, weekly B.Y.O. Supplies Sketch Club! Settle in from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. for an afternoon of creative community; artists of all ages, skill levels, and mediums, are welcome at this event!

After you’ve warmed up with your mark-making tool of choice at Sketch Club, join us on Thursday, September 10, 2026 for our biweekly Pay-What-You-Can Clothed Live Figure Drawing session! Whether you’re just starting your drawing journey or are a long time attendee, this session is the perfect place to practice the skill of drawing from a live reference. This guided session will start at 6:30 P.M.—we’d love to see you there!

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, we’ll host the second session of our new, monthly Linocut Flash Sheet Art Cafe Day! Drop in and carve at your own pace at this daylong event. Be sure to watch your feed for the early release of our September flash sheet!

We are excited to announce that we will extend our hosting of ART AWAKENING, a new show by local artist Aegis (Aegis of d’Arc), through the end of the month. Be sure to stop in and visit this free-to-see show for yourself! Original works and prints are available for purchase.

You won’t want to miss it! Join us today, Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. for the formal opening of ART AWAKENING, a new installation by local artist and maker Aegis! Witness the works and put creation into conversation with the creator at this free to attend show, open to all. Original works and prints will be available for purchase, and ART AWAKENING will remain on display through September 12, 2026.

“Aegis is a Richmond, Indiana artist who believes that the creative wells within each of us are sacred, healing and holy.

Art was deeply interwoven in her childhood religious experience. Having a crisis of faith at 18, she packed away her paint brushes, guitar and pen to embark on an early career in social work. Sometime after, compound personal and professional trauma caused her to withdraw from the work she had chosen.

Art re-awakened as a healing balm. She now believes that art, not psycho-analysis, is the medicine with which we can free ourselves from personal and collective insanity. Her paintings are a personal testimony to this process.

We’re open, and we’ve got a full day ahead at Oblivion Cinema & Arts! Stop by and check out our shop, studio, and space until 6:00 P.M. tonight! We’re kicking off our programming with Free-Form Collage Potluck at 12:30 P.M. ahead of our biweekly Oil Painting with Bennett Ritchie session at 3:00 P.M.! Both workshops are walk-in friendly and require no registration.

At 4:00 P.M., gather with us for the formal opening of ART AWAKENING, a new installation by local artist Aegis! The free to attend gathering is open to all; meet the artist and put creations in conversation with the creator. Original works and prints will be available for purchase. Trust us—you won’t want to miss it!

The weekend broaches closer and closer, and we’re prepping for multiple creative gatherings! Join us this Saturday, September 5, 2026 for our biweekly Free-Form Collage Potluck and Oil Painting with Bennett Ritchie workshops. Cut loose and create your own path at collage from 12:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M., or settle in for more structure with oils from 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.!
