Throwback Thursday

The crafts I was "into" in the early 2000's.

My Flickr account popped up out of the blue yesterday, so I went to take a look. Some of these I had actually forgotten about. Crazy how that works!

Remember my short reel from yesterday?

No? Well, we went from thrifted white pumpkin in that video to fairy pumpkin house now.

I was able to finish it last night, but I left my "smoke" from the chimney to dry overnight in hopes it would stand up.

This morning, I was very excited to see that it actually worked!!

It was so fun to do! I used 3 new to me products, and found new favorite paint colors of the day. Ocotillo Bloom and that dark blue! 👀 Gorgeous Blue Agave! Link in the comments.

I thought I had picked up Petrified Forest Wood. But when I started painting the pumpkin stem, it was an almost copper color. On the wood, it seemed to shimmer a bit while wet. I grabbed the bottle and laughed. I was pleased with my mistake!

The other newbie to me is the Midnight Ridge antiquing gel. I used it to add "soot" to the opening of the chimney and to add some color to make my twine look more like smoke. I think it worked well.

It is not perfect, but my granddaughter is going to think it is a masterpiece. Aren't those grands great like that!?!

Do you know what brushes are designed for when painting? I guess you could say that I am an enthusiast or a hobbyist when it comes to arts and crafts. A Jill of all crafts but master of none.

I am guilty of just picking a brush that feels right and going with it.

My pup, Baxter is a face kisser. I don't mind that, but not on my lips. I don't want any unexpected french kisses from a dog that just cleaned his behind. Haha!
