It's that time again, Farmer's Market day is here! This week I'm sooo excited to see you all because I have a special treat of a demonstration for you all. This week from the Elk County Council on the Arts Grant program I received some new equipment. It's a more portable rigid heddle loom and I can now demo RHL weaving at the farmer's market. What's on the RHL today? A scarf that is made of my very own hand spun yarn from the beginning of the year. This is made to be a trade with another artist so I'm excited for her to see it done live today, maybe she'll even weave a few rows of it herself 😉.

The photos below are what I do to set up for the weaving process.
1) Assembly of the stand and loom. ( My cats Flint and Nephrite approve)
2) Set up my table and warping setup.
3) Get the client's chosen yarn out
4) Warp up the yarn. A complicated mathematical process to match the yardage I have, what I need and making everything work 😂
5) Doesn't it look so 😍 pretty?
6) Ok we are now all tied on and spaced so let the weaving commence!

This scarf will be 6 inches wide by 85-ish inches long the yarn is an equivalent to a size 5 store yarn.

Hey everyone, today is the fantastic Ridgway PA Farmer's Market! I will be there with all my fibers arts crafts today from 3:30-6 pm. Sorry no readings today. 😥 But I am taking custom orders and October Tarot Party bookings! So I hope to see you all down there today 😁.

Ridgway Farmer's Market announcement:

I'm so sorry but I will not be there this week. School starts on Thursday and my daughter has orientation on Tuesday so I will be back next week with all my magical goodies.

I thought this year was going to be slower in pace. More predictable ya know? Boy I had no idea what was coming! So here is your good news of the day....

Magically Ewe has received funding and been awarded a Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator grant through the Elk County Council of the Arts and from the Pennsylvania Creative Industries, powered by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts.

What does this mean for me and Magically Ewe? It means that what I thought I'd be saving and waiting for is going to happen a lot faster. For me it means better equipment that'll be easier on my body. It means bigger better products made for you and equipment I'm hoping to teach on and expand my fiber art programs. While things may get a little crazy for a time I hope you will all stick around to see all the magical things I make just for you.

My deepest gratitude goes out to Sara Frank and those whom have granted me this award and opportunity to grow my small hand made fiber business. I look forward to creating much more with all that I have. A heartfelt thank you also to all my customers and clients for believing in me and buying local as well as for seeing me and the potential of what I know we can do together.

JB Unplugged is playing today at the Farmers Market so don't forget to stop down and see me! I'll be reading the cards and selling my hats, cozies and craft kit supplies as always. The market opens from 3:30-6 pm today. See you all soon!

I'm so proud of my newest creation! I'll be wearing it on Friday night for the Ridgway Public Library Renaissance festival. I will be there demonstrating how to spin yarn and weave fabric the old fashion way. I'll also be entertaining you with some textile historical facts and stories while we spin to see who can make the longest yarn.

We'll just have to see who wins the crown for Best Yarn Made. ( Yes there is a prize princess hat that I've made that you can in fact win! )

Hey guys guess where I'll be this coming Friday night? Yep right at our local library for the Renaissance festival! I'll be there doing live demonstrations of spinning and weaving. When Tony Cavalline joins us for Swords & Shields: An RPL Renaissance Fair, he’s bringing real HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) straight to Ridgway.

Here is what to expect from the longsword session:
📜 The History: Tony kicks off the session with a short informational talk on the real history, origins, and mechanics of the medieval longsword.
