Made my first pineapple upside down cake ever (from a box, but still), and drew a t-shirt design for myself of my two most favorite cartoon characters. Hung out with the fam and chilled all day. Twas a good day off.

I loved Benji so much when I was a little kid!! I can’t believe he was 17 years old when the movie was filmed. And that his real name was Higgins ❤️

Higgins the Dog (1957–1975) was a talented canine actor best known for his role as "Benji" in the 1974 movie of the same name, marking one of the most iconic roles in canine cinema history. Born in 1957, Higgins was a mixed breed dog, possibly a mix of Miniature Poodle, Cocker Spaniel, and Schnauzer, known for his expressive face and remarkable intelligence.

Higgins was trained and handled by animal trainer Frank Inn, and his career spanned both television and film. He first gained fame on the television show "Petticoat Junction," where he appeared for seven years, playing the character "Dog" or "Boy Dog." However, it was his starring role in "Benji" that made him a household name. In this film, Higgins displayed an impressive range of emotions and actions, endearing him to audiences and critics alike.

His performance in "Benji" earned Higgins widespread acclaim, and he is often credited with popularizing the family-friendly animal movie genre. Despite the fame, Higgins led a relatively normal life for a dog when not on set. He passed away in 1975, shortly after the release of "Benji," leaving behind a legacy as one of the most beloved and talented animal actors in Hollywood history.
