Just finished this heirloom keepsake box for a customer. It's will be a gift for their son's 16th birthday. The woods are Peruvian walnut and mahogany with mango for the tray box and dividers. The lid is ambrosia maple and the hinges are solid brass. It was a fun project and it's being delivered today.

Must be a sign of my aging that has me making rests for what I'm creating in the workshop these days. I know I need a rest after putting in several hours of work each day. Still having lots of fun and am not complaining.

I've been seeing rolling pins and stands a lot recently in the FB reels and was inspired to try to make some too. Here's a couple I just finished and will be selling at upcoming craft shows and at the Woodshed: Appalachian Crafts and Coffee Cafe beginning in September. Expect more home and kitchen items from Dieterhaus Woodshop Creations in the upcoming months as we move into the holiday shopping season.

Friends and followers,
Mary and I are pleased to announce that beginning September 1st Dieterhaus Woodshop Creations and Amada Maria Sew Fine Designs will resume at Woodshed: Appalachian Crafts and Coffee Cafe in a permanent artisan space. We moved out of the temporary booth last May to make way for the new cafe & bistro which is expected to open late August. We will share a 4' x 6' space and will bring out our most popular items for sale.
Here are some photos of new folk art I created in the Appalachian tradition and these will be sold exclusively to customers visiting the store. The candle holders were made from leftover wood chips used to build the interior wall behind the register. The flatware and spatulas are made with American walnut and canarywood which is very rare in the Appalachian mountains. Come on out in September to visit the store and stop into our booth to shop our products!

My favorite part of being a woodworker is having folks ask me to help them with a special need or project such as small furniture repairs, contribute products to silent auctions for local charities, or making things for their homes or as presents to others. Since starting Dieterhaus Woodshop Creations a few years ago I've had the opportunity to do such things as build TV stands, make a custom order birdfeeder for a Roanoke County fireman, fix a runner on a child's rocker, re-cane a seat for another antique rocker, make speaker stands for a home theater, and so much more.
Yesterday, I finished a small box for a customer to be used as a rosary bead container to be gifted to a newly confirmed Catholic. It is made with Purpleheart, Yellowheart and Cherry woods and measures 3"x6" at the base with a 2"x5"x2 1/4" inside dimension.
I'd love to work with you if a need arises so feel free to contact me to discuss any project or need you may have. I work alone but am in a place where I can spend several hours each day in my shop which is outfitted for millwork and custom work.
