Greetings to our friends and customers on this day preceding our Nation's Day of Birth, the 4th of July. As our Nation celebrates we too are celebrating 50 years of providing floor covering to Southwest Virginia. We began in May of 1969 as Moore's Carpet Services. Five years later, Carpet Village was born, our commercial division, and Carpet Factory Outlet in 1996.
That is a little of our history but the floor covering history is a part of the history of humanity. The first 'dwelling' was a cave, the first rug was an animal hide, the first floor covering was grass and reeds, over stone or hard packed soil. Later wood planks, stone pavers, or bricks were used. Woven rugs from animal hair and later plant fibers were introduced which in time became wall to wall carpet...
Today's floor coverings still include the 'natural' materials of wood, stone, marble but also man-made porcelin and ceramic, sheet vinyl, carpet, laminate and vinyl plank wood-look products, carpet tiles and of course, area rugs...even some that look like animal hides.
We will be closed on the 4th to celebrate our nation's birth, but we will reopen on Friday the 5th, come visit us and we will share our story and show you the great floor covering products in our store.
