This might be a good opportunity for some of our more advanced collectors or someone who is wanting to take their collection to the next level. A few specimens have just been released from a local private collection and are here at The Crystal Cellar. We have got them listed on our website as well for those who are not local. ✨
These Fluorites and Calcites with Sphalerite are from the Elmwood Mine in Smith County, Tennessee, a famous mineral locality that closed December 2023. These specimens represent a piece of Tennessee mining history. Check them out!

Knowing about the mohs hardness scale is so important when rock tumbling. With so many different minerals its a good thing we have all that information at our finger tips. And its as easy as a quick internet search.

All the lapidaries polishing crystal products for wholesale should try holding themselves to a higher standard then THIS. The price was so high on these aquamarine hearts AND then for them to use oil to hide their terrible lapidary work to make them look nice in photos and videos for their wholesale buyers is scammer behavior. I cannot tell you how much Ive had to repolish in my own lapidary because I refuse for it to be our standards when I know how to polish so many materials correctly. Its a waste of resources to polish materials poorly when they can be so extra beautiful when its polished right. If youre going to do a job you might as well do a good job. Fortunately I have gotten a lot better at spotting these scammy techniques and situations like this happen to me a lot less these days.
