HEAT STROKE vs. SUN POISONING — Know the Difference!
Summer is here, and so is the risk of serious heat related illness. These two conditions get mixed up all the time, but they’re not the same.

🔥 Heat Stroke This is a medical emergency. Your body overheats and can’t cool down. Signs: Very high body temp (103°F+) • Hot, red, dry or damp skin • Confusion, dizziness • Fast pulse • Fainting or loss of consciousness
What to do:

• Call 911 immediately
• Move to shade/AC
• Cool with cold cloths or ice packs (neck, armpits, groin)
• Do NOT give them anything to drink if they’re confused or unconscious

Sun Poisoning This is basically a severe sunburn that can make you feel sick. Signs: • Intense redness or blistering • Swelling • Headache • Fever or chills • Nausea • Dehydration
What to do:

• Get out of the sun
• Cool baths or aloe
• Hydrate
• Take ibuprofen for pain/swelling
• Seek medical care if blistering is severe or symptoms worsen

Bottom line:
Heat stroke = life threatening.
Sun poisoning = painful and can make you sick, but usually treatable at home.
Stay hydrated, take breaks, and protect your skin
