The Swell House philosophy centers on creating gracious, minimal, sanctuary-like environments that set us at ease. Our aesthetic is clean and neutral, but also cozy, casual, and welcoming. The use of warm, organic, textural materials is a signature of our design. The team strives to combine historic and timeless elements with modern-day amenities. The love for light-filled rooms, natural elements, timeless details, and a lived-in, laid-back energy brings life to all of our projects.

One day, the samples will be cleared off the table, the last box will be unpacked, and you’ll be settling into the home you spent so long imagining. Your favorite books will be on the shelves, friends will be coming through the door, and an ordinary evening will feel a little more like the life you hoped for!

We want you to arrive at that moment feeling happy with what you chose, and cared for along the way. So much of our work happens in the conversations between those first ideas and the finished home, as we listen to what matters to you, talk through the things you’re unsure about, and help you see it all coming together.

Some places feel like a natural next chapter.

For us, it was the history, the architecture, and the creative spirit of this little stretch of East Avenue. Our new downtown office sits beside The Little Theatre and Goodman Bakes, among so many places and people we already love.

We’re excited to settle in, get to know our neighbors, and make this beautiful space our own while honoring what came before us.

One of our favorite parts of this work is getting to do it together.

We each notice something a little different, and that is what makes the process so fun. Every project becomes stronger when there is room for collaboration, curiosity, and more than one way of seeing a space.
