Number 2 is the lie. Outside mount actually costs more than inside mount, not less. The shade has to be built wider to overlap the opening, and it covers your trim while it's at it. Inside mount tucks into the frame and shows the woodwork off.

Everything about a built in seat gets decided early. The shade over it gets decided last.

That's backwards. It's the one shade you'll see from two feet away.

- Up close, weave and colour do the work. A flat white panel reads as equipment.
- Woven wood puts warm texture at eye level, against a plank ceiling and grey walls.
- Four openings in this room, two wall planes, and the fourth is bare glass. You don't have to do them all at once.

How many directions does your bay window face?

That's the whole difficulty in one question. A bay isn't a single opening. It's several sections set at angles, so the daylight hits each one differently, and one style and one color still has to look right across all of them. It's a call that's genuinely hard to make from a photo, and it's why the decision gets put off.

Rachel had a bay. She wrote that we did a great job determining what style and color would work best in it, that the salesperson was helpful, knowledgeable and not pushy at all, and that they love the blinds.
