"Uptown" Chest by Merton Gershun

The Uptown line by American of Martinsville is a mid-century modern furniture collection designed by Merton Gershun during the mid-20th century. This line was made on a smaller scale compared to his other lines, which makes these pieces are relatively rare to find.

This chest consists of 6 drawers. The top two are each accented with a brass pull. All drawers have dovetail finger joints. The base has an apron which has brass spindles and brass feet.

The Designer: Merton Gershun designed over 12 major lines for American of Martinsville, including Uptown, Legacy, and the best-selling Dania line.

Style: The Uptown collection features clean lines, classic mid-century wooden tones, and sophisticated simplicity characteristic of 1950s and 1960s American modernism.

Pieces: The line included bedroom and occasional furniture, such as dressers, nightstands, beds, and side tables.

Our sweet, sassy, spunky girl Rosie crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday afternoon. Most of the time she would be napping in the workshop, but there were days she wanted to come out to greet our customers. She loved chin scratches and her gravy! The team here is feeling her loss as she was here almost everyday alongside Scott. If you got to meet her and she came over for a pet, you are one of the lucky ones ❤️
Hold your fur babies a little tighter today in honor of her.
