Main Street Studio received a grant from … Donald Shore is happy to be part of this. Main Street Studio is a gallery and maker community…their current show features collaboration across media types… there are a few serious galleries in the 518 that pay attention to ceramics… this is one to visit.

Here are two hearth tile sets we created for the Mark Twain Memorial in Hartford Connecticut.

What is most special for me was that the pink fireplace was installed by me (Donald Shore) and a colleague (Mark Moffatt)... We were literally locked into the former residence of Samuel Clemens.

Did we take a break to smoke ci**rs in his library with our feet up on the fender of the fireplace (blue tile below)... ? I will admit that we both enjoy an occasional cuban and a snifter of brandy... and leave it at that... "Do your duty today and repent tomorrow."

Lesperance Tile Works’ founder Linda Ellett… working at the press her Dad made for her following an apprenticeship she completed at the Moravian pottery and tile works. Some will be interested to know that the clay she is pressing was a clay body that was dug by tile makers from the banks of the Hudson River.
