A big thank you to Tena Tena Collyer! An amazing artist based on the South Coast, MA, and the former owner of the Art Loft, and I was lucky enough to visit her cozy, well-appointed art supply shop just before she closed up. Recently, she was selling a selection of brand-new art supplies and I was able to purchase part of her inventory!

I’ve brought in sketchbooks, acrylic inks, Copic markers, artist-grade watercolors, Neopastels, and more. Thanks to Tena's sharp eye and curation, I scored many of the artist-grade supplies you have been asking for.

You might be wondering: Is The Spare Studio moving to a consignment model? No. I don't offer consignment. This was simply a one-time purchase from one shop owner to another, and every item I bought is brand new.

However, if you're looking to sell off part of your own collection, I offer Studio Stewardship services. I'll work with you to research, price, and catalog your art supplies, so you can easily decide how to sell your items (via Facebook Marketplace, eBay, or elsewhere). Feel free to reach out if you could use a hand with that!

Every Monday, our Quality Control team from Launch Hingham or Cohasset comes in to help sort through art supplies and materials. It's our time to take a look at all the community has brought in, and reorganize it so they can be put back to good use. This week we had Abby, Zack, Chris and Gianna helping out.

Today, we organized crayons: whole ones in one bag, and bits in other bags (color sorted, of course). Bits and pieces will be melted into new crayons!

Where did all these crayons come from? Sustainable Plymouth started an initiative in their public schools to collect art supplies. Twice a year, we get boxes and boxes of art supplies - markers, crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, and more! The Launch team is the official organizer of all these supplies.

Where will these supplies go? FREE to public school art teachers and arts-based non-profits. We also sell a small handful in the shop, but most of it is destined for schools. So, please reach out if you have any art supply needs!

Thank you Launch (a program through South Shore Support Services ) and thank you Sustainable Plymouth for all you do to help keep art supplies out of languish and landfills!

Thanks to our dear friends at New Again Refill-Able and Jenn Godbois aka Mrs. Godbois we are restocked on packs of crayons, markers and colored pencils. These two and their wonderful team have been such a big support to us as we’ve built out our vision.

Make sure you check out New Again, which is a refillery and also sells local hand made art.

Hello Peach Arts is the latest addition to creative businesses on the south shore. They take fibers and fabrics as well as teach classes!

A huge thank you to Children's Art Classes Hanover - South Shore for offloading supplies with us! I had the opportunity to judge their student art show recently and was blown away by the passion and talent of the kids. Beyond that, the team and teachers are all so dedicated to bring the arts to the South Shore. They offer scholarships, varied classes for so many young artists’ interests, and the help young artists build their confidence. Thank you again for the supplies and all you do!

Friends, THANK YOU :)

Being able to close for the month of August while I do my other work has been such a treasure. I spent time with my children, traveled with family, strategized the store / balancing my other work, and I actually made my own art!

I am ready to re-open on September 8th :)

Since I closed, I have received 5 large donations from our lovely community members and will be restocking the shelves with high-quality fine art supplies.

If you are looking for back-to-school supplies or are a public school art teacher, DM me! I have plenty of supplies for students.

A huge thanks to Nancy Cloonan Nancy Cloonan - abstract painter, an abstract artist and one of my neighbors ET Wright Building.

As she moved into her new space and started organizing, she realized she had some things she no longer needed. Things that she knew could benefit other artists. Part of the amazing things she brought down: tons on encaustic paints!
