Friends, THANK YOU :)

Being able to close for the month of August while I do my other work has been such a treasure. I spent time with my children, traveled with family, strategized the store / balancing my other work, and I actually made my own art!

I am ready to re-open on September 8th :)

Since I closed, I have received 5 large donations from our lovely community members and will be restocking the shelves with high-quality fine art supplies.

If you are looking for back-to-school supplies or are a public school art teacher, DM me! I have plenty of supplies for students.

A huge thanks to Nancy Cloonan Nancy Cloonan - abstract painter, an abstract artist and one of my neighbors ET Wright Building.

As she moved into her new space and started organizing, she realized she had some things she no longer needed. Things that she knew could benefit other artists. Part of the amazing things she brought down: tons on encaustic paints!

Thank you Nancy for your inspiring work and presence in the community!

We wouldn’t have furniture in our store if it wasn’t for our friends and artists! Thank you Local Threads Podcast for offloading these lovely pieces! One of them will house our incredible pastel stock. The other…stay tuned! We have something brewing for this curio cabinet 💙

Excited to bring a curated selection of new art supplies into the shop.

Gapka Gapka is a micro-manufacturer of professional artist’s paint. I first was intrigued by them when I saw they made UV fluorescent neon oil paints. Since I first learned of them, I’ve enjoyed seeing their inventory and options grow, including the introduction of a sophisticated watercolor line.

We now have a limited amounts of Gapka watercolor half pans in primaries, pearlescents, and neons. Watercolor artists: these are pigment rich paints made with real honey 🐝

Had a fun morning brainstorming with the STEAM team at Boston Children's Museum for our upcoming collaboration for CreatedBy.

We’ll be in the Art Lab working on a collaborative art piece to be put on display for all to enjoy! We will be using all upcycled materials and supplies, and the project will encourage patrons to think about composition and design.

Join us at Boston Children’s Museum on Sunday August 2 from 10am-2pm!

We are so grateful to our community for donating art supplies and materials to us! When people walk into the store, they are amazed at how beautiful our items are. We can only take partial credit (we do love to organize), but most of the credit goes to the artists, family and loved ones of artists who reach out to us with supplies to donate.

If you’ve been in our store recently, you’ve probably seen the whimsical pastel sketch of purple flowers at our pastel station. This is the lovely work of Betsey Detwiler. Betsey was, among SO many other things, a gifted pastel artist. She lived a life giving to her community in so many ways, as an educator, a devoted family member, and book/toy store owner (, where I am almost every weekend).

Betsey attended to her pastels with so much care, that it was effortless to weave her supplies into our stock. You will see many of her handcrafted collections of colors still in tact on our shelves.

When you come in and pick out an item of Betsey’s, or any of our donor artists, you are carrying on their energy and work into your own practice.

Thank you Betsey and the Detwiler family. And thank you so much to Betsey’s pastel artist teacher, the one-and-only .

The awesome and engaging Creative Reuse Center in Rhode Island will be collaborating with local sustainable fashion startup to host their very own Re:Made Market at 50 Sims Ave, Providence, RI! We had a wonderful rainy-yet-cozy afternoon in our last Art Unplugged session with !

We made paper from shredded junk mail and school worksheets, and upcycled spent markers into vibrant alcohol inks to decorate our delicate sheets.

Attendees went home with paper, but they also left some pages behind, which we will assemble into a colorful collaborative piece to be put on display at The James!

Most of our inventory is donated - art supplies and materials that people no longer want / need.

However, we also want to ensure that we have certain items in stock that an artist will always need in their toolkit: surfaces, sketchbooks, basic colors, writing tools, tapes. For that, we are starting to slowly bring in NEW ITEMS into the shop in a carefully curated selection.

So, if you're looking for an adventure in color, stop by our shop for an ! We saw them in action at a few weeks ago and wanted to have them here for our customers to try out.
