💡 One of the most common questions we hear is, “How big should my island lights be, and where should they hang?” The answer isn’t just about measurements—it’s about creating balance throughout the entire space.

✨ Here are a few of the design principles we consider on every kitchen:

💡Scale matters. Fixtures should feel proportional to the size of the island—not too small that they disappear and not so large that they overwhelm the room.

💡Placement is everything. Pendants or a linear fixture should be centered over the island while aligning with surrounding cabinetry, windows, and architectural features. Every sightline matters.

💡Style should tell one story. The island lighting should complement the cabinetry, hardware, plumbing fixtures, and adjoining spaces so the kitchen feels connected to the rest of the home.

💡Layer your lighting. Decorative pendants create beauty, but they should work together with recessed lighting, under-cabinet lighting, and natural light to provide both ambiance and excellent task lighting for cooking, gathering, and entertaining.

When all of these elements come together, lighting becomes more than a finishing touch—it becomes one of the features that makes a kitchen feel warm, welcoming, and beautifully designed.

Not every kitchen has the opportunity for a window over the sink—but thoughtful design can create something just as special!

In this Rocky River kitchen, our designer Debbie suggested glass-front cabinets to bring a sense of openness, depth, and light to the space. The result is a beautiful focal point that feels bright and inviting while giving our homeowner, Mary, a place to showcase her favorite seasonal collections, treasured serving pieces, and meaningful keepsakes.🤍

One of our favorite things about this design is that it can evolve throughout the year. Whether it’s colorful summer pottery, heirloom china for the holidays, or everyday pieces that simply make her smile, the display can change with the seasons—keeping the kitchen feeling fresh and uniquely hers.

This is how it all begins!

The demo is officially underway at this Avon Lake home, and we couldn’t be more excited! Every cabinet removed and every wall opened up is the first step toward something incredible.

Soon, the planning, thoughtful design, and skilled craftsmanship will come together to create a kitchen that’s as beautiful as it is functional—and perfectly tailored to this family’s lifestyle.

This active family loves spending time together, but their old kitchen just couldn’t keep up. There just wasn’t enough room. 😕

But now a generously sized island with seating for the whole family—and plenty of room for friends, too — solved that problem! 🙂

We had the pleasure of working with Simply Kitchens and Baths on our kitchen and dining room renovation, and the entire experience was outstanding. We gutted our entire kitchen as well redid our flooring. Home renovations can often be an arduous task, but from start to finish, this process was seamless and pleasant. Our budget from start to finish was extremely close to what we began with. We would not hesitate to hire Debbie, Bob, and the entire team again for future projects.

The team including Debbie, Lisa, and Cindy took all our concerns and ideas into consideration every step of the way, especially when it came to bringing our vision to life while staying within budget. They came to our home to discuss our goals, and by our next meeting at their showroom, Debbie had already selected options that fit our vision to a tee.

Communication throughout the renovation was exceptional. All the contracted services—including flooring, electrical, and plumbing worked together seamlessly. They left our home clean at the end of each day and the work was very well contained to the renovation space. The head contractor, Bob, was also a pleasure to work with. He is a true craftsman and manages the brunt of the work himself with his team. He was also mindful of the schedule, and each phase of the project was completed in a timely manner.

Having a team in your home for six months can be an arduous experience, but they made it as smooth and stress-free as possible. They are very hands-on and detail-oriented; if any changes needed to be made according to our liking, they addressed it promptly and handled everything without adding any added stress for us.

We are so happy with our new space. It feels warm and inviting, and we love cooking and spending time together as a family in it. Our daughter often comments on how great the new kitchen feels, which says it all.
