That new concrete may have cured but that doesn't mean it's ready for flooring.

Before a flooring system goes down, the concrete must be evaluated for:
• Surface profile
• Moisture
• Contamination
• Weak or laitance-rich concrete
• Existing coatings or adhesives
• Cracks and joints

A slab can look solid and still have conditions that affect adhesion, installation, and long-term performance and that's why surface preparation isn't simply the step before the flooring - it’s part of the flooring system.
