Clean lines. Rich contrast. Thoughtful details.

This renovation completely transformed the heart of the home. We replaced the original wood-burning fireplace with a bumped-out electric fireplace, refreshed the existing built-ins with new paint and cabinet doors, removed the heavy wood beams for a more timeless transitional feel, and relocated the dining area into the newly opened kitchen.

Sometimes the biggest transformations come from reimagining what’s already there ✨

Thoughtful design is often found in the details ✨

For this kitchen renovation, our goal was to create a space that feels clean, modern, and timeless while expanding the footprint to better support the way our clients live.

We incorporated full-height quartz behind the range for a seamless focal point, added picture lights above the windows to bring warmth and character, and introduced a soft green accent tile behind the open shelving and beneath the island seating for just the right amount of color.

Every material and detail was selected to create a space that feels elevated, functional, and built to stand the test of time.

We can’t wait to see this one come to life! 👀

One of my favorite before & afters to date 🩵

Not just because of the transformation, but because this one is for three of my favorite little people - my niece and nephews!

My sister had the vision to transform an unused dining room into a dedicated space where her kids could focus, learn, create, and have a place for heads-down time away from the distractions of the rest of the house. Together, we brought that vision to life with custom workstations, built-in storage, and thoughtful details designed to grow with them for years to come.

It’s projects like these that remind me why I love what I do - creating spaces that support everyday life and the people who live in them.

Hi, I’m Chelsea!
Founder and Lead Designer of Fortney Designs ✨

I’m a Cleveland-based interior designer with a passion for creating functional, intentional spaces that feel just as good as they look.

I’ve loved design for as long as I can remember. Growing up around architecture and construction sparked that passion early, and after graduating from Kent State University, I spent 12 years designing corporate workplaces before discovering my love for residential design while renovating my own home!

That experience inspired me to start Fortney Designs in 2025, where I now help clients create thoughtful, timeless spaces for their own projects!

When I’m not designing, you’ll usually find me traveling, adding another plant to my collection, or spending time with my dog, Bailey! ✈️🌿🐶

From outdated to spa-like ✨

A stunning transformation doesn’t always require moving walls or completely reworking a layout. By keeping much of the existing footprint, plumbing locations, and millwork in place, we were able to create a completely new look & feel through intentional design, strategic layout adjustments, and updated finishes!

We reimagined this backyard with a covered pavilion, outdoor fireplace, expanded entertaining patio, layered landscaping, and multiple lounge + dining zones designed for gathering all season long. I love seeing how thoughtful exterior design can make a home feel so much larger and more connected to the outdoors.

Let the light in! ☀️✨

While the existing footprint of this kitchen was beautiful, it wasn’t very functional… with the only natural light coming from a single skylight and no exterior windows, this client’s biggest request was to make the space feel brighter, more open, and less closed off.

These renderings bring that vision to life — creating a warm, inviting layout filled with layered lighting, soft finishes, custom built-ins, and intentional sightlines that make the entire home feel connected. 🤍

From the kitchen and living space to the pantry and bath details, every inch was designed to feel cohesive, functional, and full of light.
