Hello friends and neighbors Izard County Fair & Livestock Show is just around the corner. Izard County EHC along with the Fair board has worked to keep the Creative Arts building open to the public. This allows Izard County citizens to display many items that have been grown, preserved, baked and created right here at home.

We want to continue displaying this yearly event during the County fair that is coming to town Aug 5th-Aug 10th. The EHC and Fair Board need your help. Volunteers are needed serve as host/hostesses in the Create arts building.

Well now that the rain has come in this morning maybe some cooler fall temperatures will follow. Suggestions have been given to make a black berry cobbler and jambalaya. Now I just need to know what kind of bread to add to this meal when I break out the pots.

Have not cooked in the Dutch Ovens yet this weekend as the heat has creeped back in. But have been enjoying spending time with my mom and her friend Paula. I have been using cast iron to cook most meals at moms. I have fried squash and okra together. Then fried some pork chops. Also made fried apples served those over ice cream. The ladies said it was yummy.

Today shows to be getting cooler not sure if it will last very long. Mike and I are going to the cabin this weekend to have some down time. May have the opportunity to get the Dutch Ovens out and do a bit of cooking. Not decided yet what will cook, if you have any suggestions please let me know.

When this heat let's up it will be time to drag out the pots and begin to cook. What would you like to see as the first thing cooked when the time comes? Here are a couple of things that I have cooked in the past. Beef stew, biscuits before they cook and biscuits after they are cooked. Let me know what you want to see me cook when the weather cools off. Maybe you will get an invite to be a taste tester.
