Mabel + Mimi Candle Co. is my small business, but it happens after I finish my full-time job, in the evenings, and on my weekends.
There are nights spent pouring candles, trimming wicks, adding labels and lids, organizing orders and getting everything ready to go. Then Friday usually becomes delivery day. 🚙📦
What you see in these pictures isn't a warehouse or an assembly line. It's one person, a little candle workspace, a whole lot of fragrance oil and soy wax... and of course, Mabel supervising it all. 🐾😂
Every candle is poured, finished and packed by hand in small batches. When you buy a Mabel + Mimi candle or when a local shop chooses to carry them, you're supporting all those hours behind the scenes that most people never see.
This Friday, seeing those boxes loaded into the Jeep felt pretty darn good. 🤎
Thank you for supporting my little candle company and helping me continue to grow something I'm building one candle—and one Friday delivery—at a time.

As Reservoir continues to grow, so does our team! We are looking for a part-time Retail & Administrative Associate to join the crew. 🌿
This job is a little bit of everything- helping customers, keeping the shop looking great, helping with appointments and client check-ins and pitching in with all the tasks that keep a small business moving.
✨ The best person for the job is someone curious, warm and comfortable working independently and with others. If you love self-care, simple low-waste living and the idea of leaving things better than you found them, you might be a great fit.
Know someone who would be perfect? Send them our way!

🕯️ **WOOD WICK CARE 101**

That cozy little *crackle* is part of the wood-wick experience — but wood wicks need a little love. 🤎

Here’s how to get the best burn from your Mabel + Mimi candle:

🔥 **Trim before every burn**
Keep your wood wick trimmed to about **⅛–¼ inch**. Remove the black, charred wood from the previous burn before relighting.

✂️ **No wick trimmer? No problem.**
Once the candle is completely cool, gently pinch or break away the loose, burnt portion of the wick.

🕯️ **Give it time on the first burn**
Allow the wax to melt close to the edges of the jar before extinguishing. This helps your candle burn more evenly throughout its life.

🔥 **If your flame gets too tall**
Extinguish the candle, let it cool, trim the wick a little shorter, and relight.

🤎 **If it struggles to stay lit**
The wick may be trimmed too short or surrounded by too much melted wax. Let the wax cool and try again once the wick has enough exposed wood.

✨ Our untreated wood wicks create a beautiful natural flame and gentle crackle — and a little wick care goes a long way toward a clean, even burn.
