Fast Fact from our most recent edition of The Inside Scoop Newsletter:

Children of incarcerated parents face higher rates of psychological strain, lower test scores and grades, and higher rates of economic hardship and instability.
Since 1980, the rate of children with incarcerated mothers has increased 100%, and the rate of those with incarcerated fathers has increased more than 75%.
When incarcerated parents are able to contribute financially, these children are less likely to experience food insecurity and housing instability compared to children who receive no support.

Financial support doesn’t just pay bills. When incarcerated parents can earn income, like through Inmate Create, it directly improves their children’s well‑being and reduces the trauma associated with parental incarceration.
