It’s been so gloomy this last week that it was an absolute necessity to buy these tulips for the Farmhaus. Sometimes you just need a visual reminder that spring will eventually find its way back to Texas.

Round 2 in front door replacement… The first set was too narrow, so I’ve moved on to this beautiful double tombstone pair. They won’t be this color in their final installation, but what an improvement they’ll be in place of the builder’s grade monstrosities I’ve been living with for the last few years.

The season of autumn can be, in Texas, a capricious suitor. It can still be seen (if not always felt) if you know where to look. I take such joy in the changing light patterns in the Farmhaus with the passing of each season. Yes…sweater weather would be nice, but this is nice as well. Look for beauty and you’ll find it; look for fall and it will be found as well(even in Texas).

It’s always the simple things. How is it even possible to find so much pleasure from a relatively unassuming silver plate hand held mirror? It has just enough patina to almost make me feel like Rose on the Titanic. Well…”the reflection has changed a bit”.

And now I find myself coming around in a full circle back to the Farmhaus! Newest addition is my new old chair found at Blue Hills during the spring show on Round Top. There’s always room for one more comfortable chair here…a place to sit and enjoy the solitude of a peaceful afternoon or the company of good friends and family when they come to visit.

I’ve never fancied myself as a writer, but this antique Underwood typewriter certainly stirs my inner Steinbeck. Maybe I’ll tap out a masterpiece.... Okay....I’ll most likely get as far as a grocery list.
