This is the best way to dry hydrangeas:

🍁Wait until they have begun to change color and the tips of the flowers are in full bloom (no little balls).

✂️Cut them after the dew has dried.
You can cut the stems of panicle hydrangeas any length you want and harvest as many stems as you want from a bush. Panicle hydrangeas are the ones that turn color as the season lengthens; they flower next year on new wood, so no worries about taking too many. They will grow new stems next year.

💦Bring them to your work station. Find a vase and add 3/4” of water to it.

✂️Re-cut the stems and put them in the vase. 🏠Place your arrangement away from direct sunlight and do 🫰NOT add more water. They will dry on their own and last all winter.

Don’t pick your hydrangea for drying yet. Wait until all the buds at the tips of the flowers (little round balls) have opened, and the flowers begin to turn pink. 🤓
