Join Catrina MacKenzie on Saturday, September 19th, for Introduction to Straight Tunisian Crochet. Participants will first learn how to create a foundation row for the Mid-Coast Neckerchief, learn two Tunisian crochet stitches (Tunisian simple stitch, and Tunisian full stitch), as well as learning how to increase, decrease, and cast-off in Tunisian crochet. Participants will need to know how to create a chain, but no other prior knowledge of crochet is required. Working with two colors makes it easier to learn Tunisian crochet and results in a woven-look ‘right’ side and a striped ‘wrong’ side. Because knitters often pick up Tunisian crochet as quickly as those who crochet, we encourage fiber artists of all kinds to register. The fee for the class is $60 and will include the pattern. Participants will need at least 70 yards of DK weight yarn in each of 2 contrasting colors, a 6 mm Tunisian crochet hook, and a crochet stitch marker (opening safety pin type). Preregistration is required. Please note, this class requires a minimum of 2 participants to run, so consider registering with a friend; there is a maximum of 8 participants.
