August was a wild ride and there’s a whole lot more of y’all here now!
Soooo, hey, hi, I’m Elizabeth. I don’t show my face often on here but I’m the person behind Hippie’s Daughter. Literally all of it from drawing the art and printing the shirts to running the register and packing your orders. You won’t find any AI art here, the only AI I want is Adobe Illustrator.
I’m just a 37 year old neurodivergent millennial workaholic making art to keep all those nostalgic Appalachian sayings you might’ve heard your Mamaw and Papaw say going. *Even the ones with curse words.
I love being from the heart of Appalachia -West Virginia. There’s such a resilience and kindness in the folks here and my family has been in these hills hollers for many generations.

I’m still lost for words. I know it’s delusional, but I felt like she’d live forever because she was such an incredible human. It’s no secret she’s been an inspiration to me and I’ll make more Dolly art when it feels right, grief is different for everyone. For now my old motel tag has been moved to the fundraiser collection on the website for Dolly’s Imagination Library. Free mini Dolly prints will be in the store tomorrow (Fri. 8/28 2-6) and will go in orders placed this weekend. 🖤
Heres to hoping she’s up there sprinkling glitter down on people to make them stop being so dang ugly.

Early this morning we took both vehicles, plumb full of cleaning supplies and water up the creek to Dry Branch Independent Missionary Baptist Church in Cabin Creek. They’ve been out there feeding, helping, and clothing people already and we’re so happy we could help them do more.
You all sent me $920 and we spent about $1,200 and plus the supplies you donated, we couldn’t get another thing in our vehicles 🫶. We ended up with 120 rolls of paper towels, 30 bottles of bleach, 7 boxes of trash bags, all the mops and sponges I could get at Lowe’s, 20 buckets, mold killer spray, spray bottles, 5 jumbo cases of water, and bulk packs of snacks.
This is what West Virginia and Appalachia as a whole is all about. While the news has already forgotten about all the communities that were devastated, we’re still here helping our people.
Thank you so much for helping! There’s still so many communities in need. It is easier for them to receive goods vs. money, but always ask. If you’re looking for places to help utilize social media, it looks like it’s mostly churches and fire departments helping with supplies.

The flood damage hasn’t disappeared like it has in the news and there are so many small communities that need help. Any help, tiny or huge can help.

So many small towns and unincorporated areas need assistance. They’ve been destroyed.

These are our past coal communities, areas with no mayor to declare a state of emergency, no public works crew to help clean up, no funding reserves- just locals. Neighbors helping each other.

Bring cleaning supplies to the store this Friday 2-6 or Saturday 12-4. I’ll be taking them to Cabin Creek on Sunday!

Any monetary donations will be used to buy supplies as well and can be sent to hippies daughter™ on Venmo, please put flood or 🌊 in the description.

Supplies will be going to the Dry Branch Independent Missionary Baptist Church who have already been out there feeding the community.

Come hell or high water, West Virginia style.
