Well, the source we ordered our second batch of sweet basil seeds from sent us a mixed pack of Thai basil and lemon basil. Both are excellent for pesto with the main difference in Thai basil being a bit more spicy with a clove/licorice taste, moreso than Italian. The lemon definitely has a lemon scent and taste! We have a lot of pots left, as everyone likes Italian best. We are selling the rest of the pots for $2 each, which is a terrific deal for healthy, tasty basil 🙃

Good evening! For anyone that watched the video from last night about the use of aromatic plants in the garden as deer and insect repellents.....something I forgot to mention is the planting density for effective use. The general recommendations are for 5 aromatic plants per 100 square feet of garden space. It does require a bit of experimentation. Sorry I didn't include this in the video, I don't really follow a script and sometimes I realize after the fact that I forgot something important 😅. Also, i included this photo of a hoverfly that I saw because she is astoundingly beautiful and I wanted to share (hoverflies are great friends to humans, amazing pollinators and friendly little buggers)

Good evening! Social media is loaded with tips on what plants are best at keeping deer, mosquitoes and ticks away from us and our gardens. It seems sometimes one thing works and another doesn't...the whole thing can be confusing. Does any of this actually work? Is there any science behind it? Here's a brief discussion highlighting some of the current ideas behind using aromatic plants to deter pests.
