When Shanon Casey-King invited me to collaborate on the visual interpretation of her poem “Fox Contemplates Rabbit As God” I was momentarily full of doubt. But, as I began to read Shanon’s words my chest expanded and these ribbons unfurled one by one with every line. It was a gift and I could clearly see exactly what I wanted to create. Thank you Shanon.
COVER REVEAL and BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! We are thrilled and honored to partner with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library to publish the inaugural POEMCITY ANTHOLOGY this year, and here is the gorgeous cover, designed by Montpelier's Dana Dwinell-Yardley and featuring artwork by Amanda Weisenfeld of Under The Moon hand felting in St. Johnsbury! The artwork relates to a poem in the book, and in the PoemCity display downtown, called “Fox Contemplates Rabbit as God,” a poem in two parts: one part written, one part visual. It is a collaboration between poet Shanon Casey-King and felt artist Amanda who both engage in a lifelong fascination with myths, fairy tales, and the animal kin that share these landscapes with us.
We hope you'll engage in this lovely poetry anthology, out April 25th, and available for sale wherever books are sold, and by donation at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library at the end of April. You can also pre-order on our website (with shipping, so if you can't make it to Montpelier for PoemCity, this is the purchase option for you): https://www.rootstockpublishing.com/rootstock-books/poemcity-anthology-2023
