• Designing for looks over function, if it doesn’t work for your day-to-day life, you’ll feel it fast
• Not designing for how you actually live, your home should fit YOU, not just a trend
• Overlooking lighting, one overhead light isn’t enough, layering is everything
• Following trends too closely, timeless > trendy when it comes to big decisions
• Forgetting resale value, even “forever homes” should have some level of appeal to others
