The best rooms are the ones that pull people in.

A kitchen island everyone ends up leaning on, a banquette worth lingering in, a table that always seems to fit one more chair. We design for the way you actually gather, because a beautiful home is really just the backdrop for the people in it. The magic is never one big thing. It is all the small ones.

In this dining room, it is the softly striped wallpaper, the tie-on cushions on simple wood chairs, the warm wood table with a little age. On their own, none of them ask for attention.

Together, they are what make a room feel collected, warm, and truly lived in. That is the part you cannot buy in a single purchase. It is built, layer by layer.

We give it the same care as the kitchen… a deep sink, hardworking storage, and enough counter to actually fold on.

The rooms you use every day deserve the most thoughtful design, not the least.

When I’m stuck on a palette, I stop looking at paint decks and look out the window.

A Minnesota summer already holds every color you’d ever need. The gold on the water at dusk, a hundred quiet greens, the softest blues and grays overhead.

Nature never gets the proportions wrong.

The best inspiration isn’t in a showroom. It’s the ordinary beauty right outside, when you slow down enough to see it.

Good furniture is built to be lived on, not replaced.
When we specify a sofa, we’re looking at what you never see: the eight-way hand-tied springs, the kiln-dried hardwood frame, the down-wrapped cushions, the fabric that holds up to a house that’s actually used.

That’s the difference between a piece you keep for twenty years and one you re-buy in five.

A powder room asks so little of you that it can afford to be the boldest room in the house. At Independence we paired the wallpaper with stone full of movement and a warm gold mirror to keep it grounded.

When the energy of a room feels off, nine times out of ten, it is the layering that is missing. The Wooddale sitting room works because of what is quietly happening in the background. Soft color washing, a vintage-inspired rug, and draperies that soften the space.
