03/07/2022 - The Hmong purple hat used to be worn as a turban which was also wrapped with a striped black and white fabric. In the late 1990s, women sew the fabric into a hat. During this time, Hmong women also started using different fabrics, colors, and decorations. As March continues, so does National Women’s month. Our Hmong women are so amazing. Our Hmong turban hat looks great with xauv cute necklace.

March is a month that brings us a lot of joy. There’s so much sunshine and snow that is melting. March is Dolly’s birthday month! Because March is such an amazing month, we are launching these two Hmong hat designs today. We will also be posting a few other items we have been working on. ❤️One thing that I love about being Hmong is wearing Hmong clothes. They are so beautiful. One important piece to a Hmong outfit is the hat.

💜The purple turban style hat came from the Hmong from Xieng Khouang, Laos. It was first worn as a headdress rather than a "hat".

🤍The pom pom hat style was often worn by the white Hmong of Luang Prabang, Laos.

Valentine’s Day is a favorite for some couples!

Did you know that Valentine’s Day actually started off as something more dark rather than romantic?

From Feb. 13 to 15, the Romans celebrated the feast of Lupercalia, where the men sacrificed a goat and a dog, and then whipped women with the hides of those animals. Women believed this would make them fertile. During this time, there was also a festival and young men drew the names of women from a jar. They would then be a couple for the duration of the festival.

Emperor Claudius II executed two men named Valentine on Feb. 14 of different years. Their deaths were honored by the Catholic Church with the celebration of St. Valentine's Day.

Later on Shakespeare began to romanticize Valentine’s Day.

So, Valentine’s Day - a day of FERTILITY and LOVE!❤️
