Botanical printmaking speaks to me and it is the heart of my landscape compositions: lay the inky leaf on a prepared surface, press it onto the surface; remove the leaf to reveal the ink image left behind to make complex landscapes. She expresses light seen in the world through ink washes on background surfaces and builds intricately detailed landscapes of prairies, shorelines, and mountain ranges
utilizing the actual plants for the print structure, she uses multiple layers of ink-infused canvas, tissue paper, organza, and other fabrics to create dimension and give viewers a desire to touch. Finding new and unexpected ways to print with grasses and leaves is what studio time is all about: mountains can be made from banana leaves printed on organza, cut apart, and laid on their sides; filipendula leaf prints compose a tree line along a shore; hosta leaves are arranged to make a vibrant flower image. Her work has been exhibited and sold in numerous Twin Cities galleries, art events, and retail shops and was awarded 2nd Place for Emerging Artists by the Paramount Center for the Arts Statewide Juried Exhibition (October 2016). Commissions include works for the Women's Foundation of Minnesota and several Metro Area art collectors. In addition to making art, she is in the business of art, serving as an exhibit installation assistant in several Twin Cities galleries, and is a part of the program administration for the St. She recently a two-year mentorship program with WARM (Women's Art Resources of Minnesota). Every piece is a signed original botanical print; no reproductions are made.
