The point of custom isn't picking your fabric. It's picking the tone the rest of your room is going to live inside.

Cresthaven is a room built around two custom pieces: the Maxim leather sectional with chaise, and a pair of Parkway chairs in our Banks Yam Eco-Performance Velvet. Both made to order in our shop, in any of 40+ fabrics or leathers, sized to the room.

The Maxim is the room's quietest move — a deep, roomy chaise sectional in a leather tone that holds the whole charcoal family together. A reading sectional. A Sunday afternoon sectional. The kind of piece you specify because nothing off-the-shelf sits in the right tonal range AND has the proportions a Colorado living room needs.

The Parkway chairs sit across from it. Wide track arms, low deep seat, in a Banks Yam velvet that reads almost identical to the leather when you squint. That's the Cresthaven trick — custom lets you pick the tone that lives inside the room's family, not just the closest match the catalog has.

Meet the NEW (vintage) Rasmusson Pot — hand-thrown vintage pottery, brand new in our vintage decor collection. The kind of piece I reach for when a console has the right wood but the wrong weight on top of it. (it's pic 2)

Decor does the work furniture can't. A heavy pot to ground the surface. A lidded jar for the in-between height. A pair of jars in a tonal trio. A plate stood up against the wall — real warmth, real character. Every object in this swipe is one-of-a-kind.

A side table is the smallest thing in the room and the one I think about the most (well… besides the sofa).

It carries everything — the lamp, the book, the coffee, the half-finished glass of wine. Get it wrong and the whole sightline next to your sofa goes off.

Why coffee tables placed too far from the couch kill conversations.

You know that dinner party where everyone's sitting around the living room and the conversation just dies? It's not because the topic ran out. It's geometry.

Back in 1966 an anthropologist named Edward T. Hall got curious about how distance shapes conversation. He mapped what he called the social zone and landed on a number: four feet. That's the cutoff.

Inside four feet, your nervous system codes other people as part of your conversation circle — you lean in, you read faces, you tell the actual story. Push someone past four feet, even by six inches, and the same brain regions that track strangers start firing. Your body decides they're outside before your conscious mind catches up.

Most living rooms blow this. Sofa over here, two chairs across the room, coffee table marooned in the middle. The fix isn't bigger furniture. It's tighter. Pull the coffee table eighteen inches off the sofa, max. Group seating so every chair sits inside that four-foot bubble.

Furniture distance is a nervous-system signal, not a style choice.

A console is one of those pieces that quietly fixes a room — behind a sofa, in an entryway, the spot that's always collecting half a stack of mail.

The Calle Console Table is one of my go-tos. Salvaged wood, real grain, the kind of patina you can't fake. First piece after the room pic. From there, swipe through — Haldo, Fenna, Solvei, Jona — each one sits differently. Some lean modern, some lean lived-in, all of them earn their square footage.

Coffee tables are the first thing your eye lands on when you walk into a living room. And so I thought I'd give you a few of my favorites. Shown here with our Norden chesterfield sectional is the Alvhild coffee table. And I just love it's shape and texture.

Similar to Alvhild is the Villum Coffee Table. Round, low, solid wood — right after the room pic. Round and full of that same texture (right after the room pic). Things your nervous system is quietly grateful for. (Sharp corners trigger a stress response your brain is too polite to mention.)
