There are moments where I stop, look around, and realize...this is actually happening...

Oshun Design is still in its early chapters, but over the past several months I've watched projects move from ideas to reality, celebrated clients settling into spaces that truly support their lives, and welcomed new projects that continue to challenge and inspire me.

Some days I still catch myself wondering if I'm really allowed to call myself an interior designer. Then I remember that this has been the dream for as long as I can remember. Being able to focus solely on this work has been my hope for decades. Every floor plan, every material sample, every client conversation, every late night spent refining a concept—this is the work I've always wanted to do.

Building a business is a strange combination of confidence and humility. There are moments of excitement, moments of uncertainty, and moments where you're simply grateful that someone trusted you with their home or their business.

To everyone who has hired me, referred me, shared my work, encouraged me, or simply followed along—thank you. You're helping build something that means more to me than I can put into words.

I'm incredibly excited for the projects wrapping up, the ones just beginning, and everything still waiting around the corner.
Here's to the next chapter.

✨Come shopping with me: What I’d Consider & What I’d Avoid Part 2 — Beach Towels Edition ☀️

As a designer, I think about purchases a little differently than most people.

I’m not just looking at color or pattern. I’m thinking about materials, durability, longevity, and whether something will still feel relevant years from now.

For beach towels, my quick checklist is:
✔ 100% cotton
✔ OEKO-TEX certification (at minimum)
✔ Tight, durable weave
✔ Timeless patterns and colors

And yes... I’m passing on the flamingos, anchors, seashells, and “Life’s Better at the Beach” quotes 🫣.

The goal isn’t to buy the trendiest option. It’s to buy the option you’ll still love after multiple summers, countless washes, and one too many sandy beach days.

✨How do designers know what works and what doesn’t?✨

Someone recently asked me this, and my first answer was instinct. But the truth is that instinct has been developed through more than 20 years of studying, creating, and living around great design.

So I thought of a new series?

When I’m shopping for home decor and furnishings, I often see two items serving the same purpose—but one immediately feels like a stronger choice. Not because it’s more expensive, but because of factors like material, proportion, craftsmanship, longevity, and how it contributes to the overall feeling of a space.

Here, I break down those decisions and explain what I’m seeing through the lens of an interior designer.

Because good design isn’t about buying better things. It’s about making better decisions.
