I’ve spent a lot of time lately thinking about what comes next for Click & Clatter.

I love showing up somewhere with a typewriter, sitting down, and seeing what happens. But I’d also love to start building something a little more consistent.

Not just places to set up. Places to return to.

So I’m looking for a handful of independent coffee shops interested in experimenting with me.

Maybe I come write poems for an afternoon. Maybe we build an open mic. Maybe it becomes a monthly poetry night. Maybe it turns into something neither of us has thought of yet.

I made a short form for coffee shop owners who might be interested. It’s in my bio.

And if you don’t own a coffee shop, I could use your help too:

Tag your favorite independent coffee shop below.

Especially the little places you already think feel like poetry belongs there.

Let’s see where the Royal goes next.

I found more film! I didn’t realize how many of these I still have left to edit! This one was titled: “Up for the Task”.

A new chapter is about to begin. Next week, Click & Clatter is packing up the typewriter and exploring a whole new part of VA… and MD... and WV! (And maybe PA, someday)!

If you live anywhere inside this circle, I want to hear from you.

Comment your town/state below, then tag one or two places where you’d love to see me set up the typewriter and write poems. Coffee shops, bookstores, breweries, markets, festivals, art spaces, or somewhere completely unexpected.

I have a lot of new roads to travel, a lot of new people to meet, and a lot of blank paper waiting.A new chapter is about to begin.

Where should Click & Clatter go first?

“I didn’t know those existed.”

I had to laugh when she said it, but then I really thought about it. Most people under 30 have probably never actually used a typewriter, and most people under 20 have only ever watched words go from a screen to a printer.

So imagine being 8 years old and seeing one for the first time. Watching every letter physically strike the paper, hearing all the clicking and clattering, and realizing the words are appearing right there without a screen or a printer, or electricity involved.

To her, this old typewriter wasn’t outdated, it was something completely new. And I think that may be one of my favorite parts of doing this.

“My Newest Friend”

On June 27, I had the privilege of meeting someone I’d only known for a few weeks. Bryan Austin, of Bryan Austin is the epitome of a wordsmith. A man of many hats, representing the Eastside of Virginia, and yet somehow our world’s as typewriter poets collided and the rest is history. Thanks again, Bryan, for meeting me Big Lick Brewing Company and giving me some solid three words!
