I’m so excited to (finally) be able to share this project that I captured for and recently featured in ! I always love photographing Jess’ work, but this one was extra special because she designed it for her parents 🤍

There’s something about spaces created with that level of connection and love. When I think about these photos, they don’t just represent a finished project, but something deeper... heritage, legacy, and the generational memories that will forever be held inside these walls. Grateful to be a small part of telling that story. Congrats to the whole team!

::STYLING 101:: Bring Potted Plants!

We all know you need fresh florals for an interiors photoshoot, but don’t forget about potted plants, trees, herbs, topiaries.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thoughtfully placed plants can help balance a composition, add height or dimension to vignettes, and bring an element of life to your photos.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Look for plants with unique textures, shapes, or colors that complement the space. And choose a pot that enhances the design narrative such as rustic terracotta, textural ceramic, or handmade pottery.

1 hour in 15 seconds…

It can take an hour (or more) just to capture one shot. So much goes into it…finding the right angle, setting up lighting and equipment, moving furniture around so it looks right in camera, styling etc. It can take a while to get all those elements just right. Don’t rush the process! Greatness takes time… I feel like there’s a life lesson in all of this 😆

I have a secret to tell you…

I sometimes dread shooting bedrooms 😬. It’s so hard to get bedding to look good in photos… and if you’re a perfectionist like me, you’ll spend forever tugging and smoothing the duvet, futzing with the pillowcases so the flap falls just right, and tossing the throw blanket a million times until it’s “perfectly imperfect”.

But man it’s all worth it in the end to get shots like these 🤍

Photographing this modern beach house was such a refreshing departure from the more traditional homes I typically shoot. The homeowner asked designer, to take inspiration from her Siamese cats… and honestly, I can see it in the best way!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We photographed the space before the owners moved in, so I didn’t get to capture the cats. But now all I want to do is photograph them in one of these rooms… Kelley, should we reshoot, lol? 🐾

::STYLING 101:: Although I always recommend hiring a stylist for your photoshoots, I know that isn’t always possible for budgets. So I’m going to start sharing some styling tips and props to always have on set!

I photographed this kitchen back in 2022, and I always come back to it because it’s such a good example of how to style with art in a kitchen. If you’re planning your next shoot, bring a few artwork options with you specifically for the kitchen! Try propping a piece against the backsplash or even styling one above the range to add layered depth and personality!
