Wood grain, linen slubs, the soft pits of travertine. Natural materials carry a variation that gives the eye somewhere gentle to rest — and they age into character instead of wear. When we specify a surface, we ask what it'll feel like to touch every day for ten years.

A plant should earn its place, like any other design decision. Our rule: fewer, larger, better placed. One confident plant set where the light actually supports it will always outshine five struggling ones scattered around a room — and give you one living thing to tend, which is its own quiet practice.

A warm, quiet ritual at the end of the day.

Warmth, water, and a few unhurried minutes can be their own kind of reset. For sensitive systems the theme is gentler across the board — soft light, low sound, and scent kept minimal (strong fragrance can be a trigger for some). The point isn't luxury; it's a small, repeatable pause your body learns it can count on.

What's your version of winding down?

Before you buy a single piece of furniture, spend one day watching the light move through your home — where it enters, how it bounces, what it touches at 7am versus 7pm. Light is the first material we specify, and it will tell you what each room wants to be.

A room can be beautiful and still wear you out. We design for the other thing: rooms that are lovely to look at and easy on the body — natural materials, layered light, and somewhere soft for the nervous system to land.

Beauty with a job to do.

For a long time, I thought I was the problem.
The symptoms kept coming and the doctors kept looking at me like I was missing something obvious. I wasn't. My home was.
Two years ago, Greg and I started writing down everything we'd learned. The design changes, the research, the protocol that brought me back. We wanted it to be rigorous enough to publish and simple enough to actually use.
It's almost ready.
More this week. Link in bio.
