“Hola, mis amores! It’s Your Favorite Fortune Teller, Fernie, here with a community reading for the fabulous folx of Déjà Vu Esoterica!
I absolutely adore doing community readings; while they lose a little bit of the specificity of an individual reading, they gain the ability to help a whole slew of people figure something out that’s happening in the collective. As a q***r person, community is often the thing that I count as the most important part of my ‘family.’ As RuPaul has said, ‘as gay people, we get to choose our own family’, and I think that a community reading can help bring our families closer together.
For this reading, I’ve decided to go with a spread from my new book, the Joy of Tarot. This spread is called ‘The Fernie Special’, and is one of the 20 spreads to be found in that delightful tome. The Fernie Special is a 3-card spread, with each card answering a specific question.
Question 1 is, ‘What do I need to know?’
Question 2 is ‘Why do I need to know this?’
and Question 3 is, ‘What can I do with this information?’
The spread is read in the traditional manner, left to right, and I find can bring a whole lot of things to light with just a few cards. I decided to go with a general reading, with my overarching inquiry being something along the lines of, ‘What would help the Déjà vu community most right now?’ Once I finished the reading, there was a clear answer, but I’ll go card by card so you can draw your own conclusions, as well.“
