We made it to Gonzales and hit the ground running! 🏃‍♀️💨🔥

Sportin’ my gorgeous leather feathers by Casey Curtis Designs, of course! 🪶❤️ Y’all go check her out! Her creations are absolutely beautiful, and this girl is SO talented! Love ya, girl!! 😘💕

We jumped right into cooking some chicken legs, getting in a little more practice for the Jack! Before we knew it, time had flown by and it was time for Cook’s Choice turn-in!

We turned in the same dish we’re planning to take to the Jack, and man, it was GOOD! 🤤 We were really happy with how it turned out, but we know it needs just a little more spice and a kick at the end to take it to the next level. 🌶️ A few little tweaks, and hopefully we’ll have ourselves a winner! 🏆 Did not get a good pic, we thought we were out of time and I ran off without my phone so Jimmy snapped a quick one.

These nuggets are JACK READY! 🙌 Great bite, yummy flavor, and that skin… absolute PERFECTION! 🤌 At the Jack, we have to turn in both white and dark meat—7 pieces of each. Why 7? Old No. 7, of course! 🥃 See what they did there?! That means no chicken halves.

So, we’re going with wings and legs! The wings are dialed in, and the legs still need a liiitttllleee work, but we’ve got this!

🐷🔥 Ribs were GREAT, as always! Beautiful bite, amazing flavor, and just the way we like ’em! Now let’s see if the judges agree! 🤞🏆

Man, oh man! We tried something new today, and let me tell ya… GAME CHANGER! 🤯 Our pork will NEVER be the same! The flavor, the tenderness, the bite… absolutely delicious! We may have just unlocked a whole new level of pork perfection! 🏆🐽 oh boy.

🐮 🐄 Brisket was cRaZy good but had strange cracks. 😂 🤷🏻‍♀️ hmmmm...

🤠 Roping & Cooking for a Reason! 🐎🔥

We’re coming together in Gonzales, TX for a great cause with ! This special event supports Texas oilfield families facing unexpected financial hardships, providing much-needed assistance during difficult times.

Through exciting roping competitions, a BBQ cook-off, barrel racing, and raffles, participants and sponsors help raise funds that go directly toward supporting families in need.

It’s more than just a competition—it’s about bringing their community together, giving back, and helping the hardworking families who are the backbone of the Texas oilfield industry.

Well… our first KCBS competition is in the books! 🔥

Did we do very well? Nope. 😂 But that’s exactly why we came—to learn, practice, and figure out what KCBS judges are looking for before we head to THE JACK! 🏆

We definitely have some work to do on the meats, but there was one BIG bright spot…

🍰 DESSERT — PERFECT SCORE! 💯🏆

My cheesecake with the four-berry compote received a PERFECT score! I have been working on this dessert specifically for the Jack, so seeing that score felt pretty darn good. ❤️

Sometimes a competition isn’t about bringing home the hardware. Sometimes it’s about learning what works, what doesn’t, and what needs to change.

One thing we learned today: DON’T TOUCH THE CHEESECAKE! 😂🍓🫐

Now we go home, study those score sheets, make some adjustments, and keep practicing.

Lynchburg, we’re coming! 🔥🏆
