Oak has been part of French château architecture for centuries. From grand entrance halls to private rooms, it sits alongside limestone, plaster and stone as one of the defining materials of these historic buildings.
Many of these floors are still in place today. Their surfaces have changed gradually through use, revealing subtle shifts in color, texture and grain that only become more distinctive with age.
That idea was one of the starting points for Manoir Vintage. We spent over two years looking closely at historic French oak, studying what makes these floors so compelling. Then we brought those qualities into a contemporary American oak collection.
