June 1st marks what would have been Marilyn Monroe's 100th birthday, and we could not let it pass without sharing this.

Hanging in our San Carlos studio is a photograph by Lawrence Schiller, one of the last living photographers who had the privilege of documenting her. Over a career spanning decades, Lawrence documented some of the most iconic figures in American history for Life, Look, Time, Newsweek, and beyond. His images of Marilyn are among the most intimate ever taken. They do not feel like artifacts. They feel alive, like you just walked into the room a moment too late.

We are proud to represent Lawrence's work through our partnership with Bettina Stiewe, and this piece is available through the studio. If you have ever wanted to own a piece of photographic history, this is a rare one.

We design every room with multiple viewpoints in mind. Where you stand when you walk in, where you sit, and what you catch from the next room over. That last one is the detail most people overlook.

Every doorway acts as a frame, and every frame deserves something worth looking at on the other side.

There's nothing like sinking into a warm bath after a long day. Watching the sun go down, letting everything slow down, those few quiet minutes before the kids come storming in with a million questions and the deep ones that always seem to come at bedtime, when you're running on empty.

This is exactly what I design these rooms for. Not just the calm you see here, but the moment right before the chaos walks in. I wanted my clients to feel serene and held the second they sink into the tub, ready for whatever storms in next. Tub time is treasured time, however it lands.

Powder rooms are where you can have a little fun, and this one leans all the way in. A moody botanical wallpaper sets the tone, paired with a light wood vanity and that perfect mix of brass and matte black that somehow always works.

The Tudor project that started with a casita and turned into something really special.

This little corner gets us every time. The arch was always the plan but once the cabinetry went in with the brass and the terracotta tile underneath it all just clicked. Designed as a forever home, which means we were thinking ten years ahead on every material choice. The kind of details that only get better.

The best projects start with questions, not mood boards. Tell us about your mornings, your traditions, where you pile the mail. That's where the real design begins.

Classic architecture, but make it personal. We kept the bones of this San Francisco Victorian intact, then layered in color, pattern, and pieces that actually mean something to the people living here. Collected and full of life, exactly how it should feel.

San Francisco Decorator Showcase is open, and this year I’m watching from the audience. After participating the past two years, I have so much respect for the designers who took it on this time. It’s a lot. Months of decisions, reworking, and refining. Install weeks where weekends disappear. Vendors who quickly become true collaborators. They earned every square foot of that house.

Go see it. Buy a ticket. Take your time walking through. Notice the bold choices, the ones only that designer would make. That kind of work deserves to be seen. Cheering this year’s designers on!

Old home. New kitchen. Zero compromise. The bones of this 1920s Tudor called for something with real character, so we gave it a graphic tile, brass hardware, open shelves, and a range that means business. Designed for a young family, where mornings are busy, dinners run long, and everything needs to work as beautifully as it looks.
