Stingy Jack was foul-tempered and fond of the pub.
He was also a clever man.

Maybe the stars aligned in his favor.
Maybe it was dumb luck.
But everyone's luck runs out eventually.

One evening, Jack stumbled home after an extra-terrible day.
The Devil had been watching.
And death had finally caught up with him.

WHY DOES THE ROSE MEAN LOVE? 🌿

In ancient Greek myth, the answer begins at sea.

Each one a testament to her power of love.

The myth drifted into folklore.

Of protection.

Velvety blooms that carry the essence of the heart's deepest desires.

We still reach for that old wisdom in the apothecary.

A sprinkle around your space, to draw in harmony.

THE VEIL IS THINNING. 🌙

The moon is waning.
The wheel turns toward the dark half of the year.
And this season, we keep reaching for mugwort.

You've likely walked past it in a meadow or along an old stone wall.
Silvery-green leaves, feathery and deeply cut.
Small clustered buds along tall stems, with a soft, slightly dusty look.

Mugwort has traveled with people for a very long time.
In old Northern European lore, it was honored as the oldest of herbs.
Celtic and Norse folk traditions kept it close for protection and safe passage.

It is also the herb of dreaming.
For generations, it has been tucked beneath pillows to invite vivid, wandering dreams.
A small sprig by the bed. A long night. A story waiting on the other side.

That is why it belongs to Samhain.
When the veil between worlds grows thin, mugwort is the herb of remembering.
Dreams. Ancestors. The ones who walked these paths before us.

BY CANDLELIGHT, UNDER A WANING MOON 🌿

The nights grow long.
The air turns smoky and still.
And the veil between worlds begins to thin.

When the veil thins, mugwort remembers what you've forgotten.

You'll know it by its leaves.
Silvery-green and feathery, soft as a moth's wing.
Pale on the underside, as if brushed with frost.

In Celtic tradition, Samhain was the threshold night.
The turn of the season, when ancestors walked close and dreams carried their voices.

In the Norse world, the Winter Nights opened the dark half of the year.
It was a time for honoring those who came before.

Mugwort has long been the herb of that crossing.
A bridge for dreaming.
A keeper of liminal sight.

Steep a handful in a warm ritual bath before bed.
Let the steam carry the day away.

Lay a sprig on your altar beside a candle and a photo of someone you miss.
