Back to my roots…I haven’t made one of these in a while, but a friend reached out to request one as a house warming for one of her clients so I happily obliged. You know, I realized I had momentarily displaced just how much joy and peace I get from making things with my hands. It’s where the soul comes alive! Maybe I should get back into it!

Top Layer…It’s plant, art, & styling day!
The challenge for this project was to take an already awesome, modern home and infuse it with some much needed character, details, and WARMTH into its gray on gray base. What better way do that than with live edge woods, improved lighting design, artwork, area rugs, carefully selected & custom designed furnishings, softening hard edges with a layer of window treatments, and lots of PLANTS. My mantra…Everything is better with plants!

Sniff…sniff…best laid plans. Before this fun kiddo’s room gets dismantled because my boys got the wild idea to mix things up (aka drive momma cray-cray) and swap rooms because ya know…why not…I had to document this sweet moment in time. It had a good run before the teenage takeover!

Cheers to a fun series of quite reasonable resources here…no need to break the bank with kids ever changing whims.

Have you ever had the urge to walk up to a fabulous gem of a home and ask for a peek inside? Some may find that totally creepy while others can recognize that sparkle in the eyes of genuine architectural admirers, and a connection is instantly born. What an awesome Sunday morning with and touring this perfectly preserved Bruce Richards home paired with an engaging dialogue of design and history with the owners. San Diego sure is special! Thank you for opening your home to us 🙏.
