The drawing on the right is a drawing I made for my grandma when I was nine. My mom found it in my grandma’s basement and gifted it to me for Christmas this last year. “It was always flowers” she said. I remember I used to draw people often, but never could get it right. And for someone who needed to get it right, it was too much pressure. But not flowers. I have no memory of the drawing here, but I love that it is so similar to what I do now. Abstract little bunches of flowers. I like to think that this style, this idea, has been with me all along.

The picture on the left, is a painting I made during the pandemic. I had lost my job and felt so lost. It was during this time that I really began working toward my dream of opening my own art business. This was one of the first paintings I made during this time. And this painting was always special to me. I don’t often keep my artwork (and I only have one other piece of mine on display in my home). I can be very critical of my work, but this one is one that I’m very proud of. And seeing these two paintings next to each other I love how similar they are. The blue flowers with gold centers, the tan background, the lines on the leaves. It is even more special to me. Now they both sit above my desk to remind me of little me who always wanted to share art with the world, and for big me who held onto that dream and made it come true. It reminds me of where I came from, but it also reminds me to keep pushing and learning and sharing my art and myself with the world.

I PAINTED A MURAL!

So grateful to the encouragement of the SDSU Healthy Early Years clinic for the opportunity to share my art and build my confidence! The biggest painting I’ve ever done! And my first ever mural. I’m proud of myself for stepping outside my comfort zone and reminding others to keep growing!

I usually stick to tiny paintings, but I took a BIG step outside my comfort zone. These are the biggest watercolor paintings I’ve ever made! I’m so proud of myself. I’m so grateful to our mental health training clinic at SDSU for the opportunity to fill the space with my artwork!

These little mini collections are so fun for me! I love getting to try out new techniques and styles and to make mini versions of some of my usual styles! It’s fun to interchange different paintings and play around with the arrangement. I’m excited to make more small paintings so that people can ~curate~ their own little displays!

In honor of International Women’s Day I wanted to share one of my favorite stickers! To me this sticker represents body positivity and female empowerment. Each body is filled with markings of our lives. Scars from falls, stretch marks from growth or carrying children, tattoos, freckles, and wrinkles. Each mark tells a story. Each mark is beautiful. Every BODY is beautiful.
•••I especially am proud of this sticker because it’s see-through!!! Because what’s inside is beautiful too! •••

*this sticker is also available with white lines
