A Love Letter to San Diego History: The Mission Hills Spanish Revival Transformation

What do you do when you have a stunning 1934 Spanish Colonial with incredible bones, but the interiors have lost their soul over the decades? You bring it back to life with a "Restoration First" mindset.

Our latest whole-home remodel in the Marston Hills neighborhood of Mission Hills is officially complete, and we couldn’t be prouder of the results. This 3,500+ sq. ft. beauty sits right on a canyon-view lot near Balboa Park, and it deserved a design that felt as iconic as its location.

The Vision: Honor the 1930s heritage while making it a high-functioning home for a modern family.

The Highlights:
👨‍🍳 The Kitchen: We went bold with custom navy blue inset cabinetry and unlacquered brass hardware. The centerpiece is a massive quartz waterfall island with a built-in induction cooktop, perfect for entertaining. Don’t miss the built-in coffee station featuring hand-painted Talavera-inspired tile!

🌿 The "Green" Room: One of the most talked-about spaces in this home is the character bathroom. We used floor-to-ceiling forest green Zellige-inspired tile that catches the light beautifully, accented by vivid Talavera niches and a freestanding soaking tub.

🪜 The Details: From the custom-designed staircase with terracotta hex treads and cobalt blue risers to the sage green laundry room, every inch of this home was curated to feel timeless, not trendy.
