Beautiful lei for the Moana Premiere 🌀🌊

I had an absolute fun time making these beautiful lei for this movie premiere! From the many anthuriums to the fragrant pua melia from Atkinson Plumeria , these lei tested my abilities for sure.
The anthurium lei a’i was sewn on a ti leaf base to give the flat dimension we were going for. Working with the anthurium, heliconia, and ginger reminded me how many tropical florals I rarely get to use on a daily basis so I’m so glad I got to work with these and stretch my creative muscles! 😍
As for the ti leaf maile style lei with pua melia, making a twist lei is not easy…at least it isn’t for me so I give major props to the lei makers who are able to create a multiple strand twist lei and it remain twisted throughout being worn. This ti leaf maile style lei was VERY full and wrapping the dainty pua melia and the orchids around it looked beautiful and definitely was challenging for me to keep twisted. I tried tacking the strands down to the ti leaf but yknow the lei did its own thing. So if any lei makers have any pointers, feel free to share! I’m open to feedback and constantly learning! 😊🥰
Either way, all four lei came out so beautifully and I’m happy I’m able to create lei for momentous occasions like this! Lei has opened so many opportunities for me and I am grateful for those who continue to support me through my lei journey! Mahalo nui! 🌺🤙🏽
