Artist Spotlight with Ben Medansky

We had the lovely opportunity to visit Ben’s ceramic studio in LA while he was working on custom tiles for our Habitat project.

“Being a Los Angeles local artist, we were drawn to Ben’s artistic ability to sculpt and create form from the inspiration around him. He heavily leans into physical movement and organic forms to help shape the qualities of his pieces, then abstracts them into an arrayed format to create his work.
 
For Habitat, he was specifically inspired by local LA flora and created custom forms to shape the clay tiles. It was interesting seeing his thought process come to fruition in his home studio, where everything is handmade and sculpted with care. He even had one of our Habitat tiles sitting out, and while we were there, we watched an apprentice hand glazing our tiles. It really showcased the sense of human touch and craftsmanship behind what he creates, especially while being surrounded by his previous works.”
