Sunday July 12, TigerBunny Studio is honored to host the artwork of Lucien Shapiro lucienshapiro and the handmade silks of Ziran ZIRAN 自然 - along with their collaborator, muse, and daughter Mei Mei!
Lucien Shapiro's work feels both spiritual and fantastic, darkly real yet somehow wonderfully dreamlike. It seems to channel an ancient future civilization that has built a safe haven of beauty out of wreckage from the past. In constant collaboration with life itself, Shapiro uses everything from paint to plastic, bones to bottle caps , healing crystals, empty drug bags, and even "street diamonds" (aka shattered window glass from infinite car break-ins). He twists and folds and glues your trash together to make treasure troves. It is poignant, it is dangerous - and we're absolutely obsessed with it.
Kelly Wang Shanahan is the founder and creative director of Ziran, an ethical fashion house celebrated for using Xiang Yun Sha—a rare and ancient Chinese silk that is traditionally hand-dyed with river mud and plant. Sustainability and generational storytelling are at the heart of Ziran, while the craftsmanship is second to none. The antithesis to fast fashion, these gorgeous pieces are one of one, and in the highest demand.
