Transbay Block 2 - Family Affordable Housing | YA Studio
Yesterday’s meeting at the job site was a great one! Swinerton has completed Level 7, with 10 more to go. We’re actively pushing forward with interior work submittals and approvals to keep construction moving smoothly.

We had a great time walking some of our project sites in Mission Rock! MBS 9A, a collaboration we worked on with , is nearing the end of construction. It was great to visit as a team and see some of the great projects we’ve worked on in the area. To top it all off we ended with a happy hour at another project of ours - the new rooftop bar .sf

Project Spotlight: 967 Mission

967 Mission is a senior affordable housing project we are working in collaboration with to bring to the SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco. We are using this small site to create 95 units of housing, as well as event space for the community and a gathering space for residents. We are excited to see this project continue to progress!

Meet our YA studio summer interns Coleman and Tri! Learn a little bit about them below:

Left: My name is Coleman. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and I am a rising senior at the University of San Francisco. I enjoy implementing thoughtful and detail oriented design in a range of disciplines. I love ice cream, reading and studying historical architecture in the city.

Right: Hi! I’m Tri and I’m currently studying architecture at City College of San Francisco. I’m super excited to work with YA studio to improve the community we lived in. Fun fact, I love watching drag race.

Another successful quarterly lunch in with our team! Huge thank you to one of our architects, Leticia, for cooking some of her cultural dishes!

A little about the dish: Originally from Espírito Santo (a small state on the southeast coast of Brazil), Moqueca Capixaba is a light and mildly flavored seafood dish comprised mainly of white fish and shrimp cooked in a base of tomatoes, onions, cilantro and annatto. It is typically cooked in a clay pot known as Panela de Barro and served steaming hot with white rice and Pirão (a kind of seafood chowder with a cassava base). In spite of being served hot, its mild flavor and lightness pair well with the tropical climate and it’s a common Sunday lunch after a morning at the beach.
